Art Day

Room 9 had a fantastic session on Friday creating a stylised tree like the artist Kandinsky.
They all followed instructions well and used the materials to create their masterpiece. I was very impressed with the skill and ability to copy so well.

Easter fun with Cookies

We had lots of fun today.
We made origami bunnies and little boxes then we baked cookies of all shapes and iced them.

The video we watched depicts the damage that humans do to wildlife.  This island is 2000 miles from the nearest continent yet is covered in plastic waste.

We thought it would be fun to have a go ourselves.

We All Work As One!

We did a picture for art using our hands in the shape of a heart. It shows all our different skin colours, and signifies us working together no matter where we come from or what colour we are.
This was the finished product.

Pompoms

For our Big Book response to 'Eggs, Eggs, Eggs' By Jill Eggleton we made pompoms chicks. This took a long time but we got there in the end.

The Babboon

My animal is related to a Monkey, gorilla, chimpanzee and a chimp .  It has a very, long nose. They

have a very, very red bumbum.  They live in trees and they groom each other and they eat the

bugs in their hair. 

 

The Giraffe

This is a very, very tall animal, it is brown with lines through it.  It lives in the wild and birds hop

on it.  They have very long legs and it can eat spikey things with its very long tongue.

It has a tall neck.

Meteorite Cookies

We read a book about a meteorite landing in someones house, we decided that they looked like biscuits.  We had our maths brains on today and had to work out the ingredients only using 1/2 a cup.  We followed the recipe, baked, cleaned up and then we ATE, that was the best bit!!

Olympic Festival

Room 9, 10, 14 and 2 were involved in the Olympic Festival at Arena Manawatu.  We were involved in
Football, Squash, Rugby League, Rugby Union and Soccer.  We had an amazing day.  This is a shot of all the schools at the end making the Olympic rings.

Amazing Bird Art!

We have been looking at birds because of this we decided to make a bird using shapes and coloured paper.  After this we wrote a story describing our birds, where we live and what we do.  Enjoy!

Hi, my name is Fantail and I love New Zealand.  I'm pleased to see you.  I love bread, do you?  I will tell you all about me.  I have a big head and I always go down 18 Duff Crescent.  They throw bread out all the time.  All the other birds join me.  I'm good at describing myself and as I was saying I have a big head, one googly eye, a long tail and a purple body part.  How was that?  Awesome?  I'll see you again sometime.
