    1. Our production was done by the whole school. The Junior team did the Maori legend Rangi and Papa which is where the Maori say, that the Earth mother and the sky father were together way back and their sons were stuck in the darkness between them, so they decided to separate them. Then the day and night was created, birds, bugs and life began. My class did the main scene and played the stars in the night, we did a dance. Room 10 were the birds and Room 2 were the bugs. Then the seniors did the Maoris coming to New Zealand, the next class did the colonisation with captain Cook coming and then the Year 7 & 8 class did the conservation of our forests and land. It was lots of fun. The Pukana is the face that the children are pulling. It is used during Kapa Haka (Maori perforning singing, haka and poi) and also during times of fighting to scare the opponents. I hope that has helped.

    2. That sounds great! I think we should learn this story when we read stories from different cultures. Maybe we should learn the dance too! Badgers would like that!

    3. If you can't get the Rangi and Papa story over there let me know, there is a lovely version for Juniors they do over here and we can send to you if you give me your school address.
