About us

Takaro School has about 153 children from Years 1-8 in Palmerston North, New Zealand.
We are a Year 2-3 class (6 & 7 year olds).
There are 20 of us in the class this year (2012).  Most of us are Maori with 3 Europeans.

I am Whaea Josie Woon the teacher of  Room 9 Rockets.  I am also the Literacy Leader, Junior Team Leader and Assistant Principal.  I have been teaching at this school coming up to 10 years.  I love the staff and the wonderful children that I get to work with everyday.

I have a wonderful Husband, Corey, who also works at our school as a Senior Teacher Aide.  We have 5 children, 2 daughters who we have every 3rd weekend, so we share them with their mum.  Three children live with us fulltime, Kalani (son) 13 years, Malia (daughter)  8 years and Lennox (son)  2 years.  We enjoy doing things as a family which includes lots of sports: Rugby Union, Rugby League, Dancing and all the other events that children get involved with.

I hope you enjoy our blog and share your thoughts with us!!
