George and Hunter - raincoat challenge

Awa Technology Challenge

Children were split into 4 rooms and had to complete a task on behalf of their awa (house groups).
They were a shelter to hold one child during an emergency, a backpack strong enough to hold a book, a stretcher strong enough to carry 50kgs and a raincoat that was shower proof.
BUT.... the catch was all of these things had to be made with newspapers, celloptape, some had string and some had plastic bags.  So a lot of team work and problem solving was needed for this.
It was a great morning.

Our Letter A Artwork

Step 1: paint on a tree using a wide bristle brush
Step 2: put dark and light green hand prints as leaves
Step 3: using sponge and a peg we made twisted and made round apple shapes and one in the corner.
Step 4: draw an a around the apple in the corner.

Room 9 did an amazing job of following instructions, really thinking about tree shapes and branches.

Whaea Margaret's Hygiene Talk

We learnt all about the importance of washing our hands, face, bodies and brushing our teeth. This is Whaea Margaret our school health nurse. We are so lucky to have her looking after us.
